Providing access to our support team

In order to investigate issues or to troubleshoot problems, Internet Brothers support technicians may require access to your control panel , web server or database.

We understand that this kind of access information is very sensitive, and are best kept to a need-to-know basis. We have taken every precaution to ensure that our server which store access information are highly secure. However, there are additional precautions that we advise our clients take before providing us with access credentials.

Summary

  1. When providing our technician with access it is always best to change the password of your account being provided to a random password for a short time, while the issue is being traced by our company. If you have set up Security questions for your cpanel you need to change them all to something else as it will reveal your information.

  2. Once your issue has been resolved, you should change the passwords, security questions etc.. as soon as possible.

Root ( access) to your server

If a technician asks for 'root access' to your server ( unrestricted permissions), please do not be alarmed.

When providing us with unrestricted access to your systems, it is imperative that you follow the temporary account creation steps outlined in this page.

Access to other systems

A Internet Brothers technician may require access to another of your systems; such as to a POP3 or IMAP e-mail account when diagnosing e-mail problems, or direct access to your database in order to perform repairs.

 

Firewalls and IP based authentication

If your systems use or are protected by IP address authentication , please let us know and we will provide you the necessary information

Also, as a precaution please take backup of your database, Files, code modifications etc.
